FAQs

1. How much does it cost to install solar panels on my home in Ireland?

The cost depends on the number of panels, system size, roof suitability, inverter and whether you include battery storage. A tailored quote can estimate the cost and potential savings for your home.

2. Are there grants available for home solar panels in Ireland?

Yes. Eligible homeowners can apply for SEAI solar PV grant support. The standard grant is up to €1,800 for solar PV, with a separate €600 battery grant available for qualifying battery systems. Eligibility criteria apply.

3. Do solar panels work in Ireland when it’s cloudy or raining?

Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, not just direct sunshine, so they continue to produce power on cloudy days.

4. How much can I save on my electricity bills with solar panels?

Savings depend on your system size, household electricity usage, how much solar electricity you use directly and your electricity tariff. Using more of your generated electricity at home can improve savings.

5. Should I get a battery with my home solar panels?

A battery stores surplus solar electricity for use later, such as in the evening. It can increase the proportion of solar power you use yourself, although the additional cost should be weighed against the expected savings.
