ePower are the first EV and Solar installation company to join the list of certified Safe-T-Cert companies. We caught up with Julian, our Health and Safety Officer, who spearheaded the project.
- How long have you been working at ePower?
2 years in October.
2. How did you hear about ePower?
I saw an ad for a role pop up on social media while I was at a driving range in Dublin.
3. Did you always plan to work in a sustainable industry?
To be honest, no. What I have learned since working in a sustainable industry though, has been very beneficial.
4. What are your most frequent challenges in your job?
The unexpected. Nobody sets out to be part of an accident/incident, but when they do arise it’s important to establish root causes and interventions for the future.
5. What are the rewards in your role?
It’s rewarding to see ePower staff adopt strong H&S behaviours. Long gone are the days where H&S is a back thought in employees minds (in our company anyway). By fostering positive attitudes towards H&S, we have been able to achieve certain objectives such as obtaining Safe-T-Cert accreditation.
6. If you had to sum up your work in a famous quote, what would it be?
“I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.”
7. What’s your best bit of H&S advice?
Don’t wait until it’s too late.
8. What makes a good company, in H&S and general terms?
We are lucky to have top down leadership when it comes to H&S within ePower. Our staff’s safety and well-being is the first and foremost priority.
